From idea to buildable design. Without learning CAD.

Describe it. Sketch it. Design it. KerfCraft turns your woodworking ideas into editable 3D models, with real materials, your dimensions and practical cut lists.

Draw it yourself, hand it to the assistant, or anything in between: you choose how much autopilot.
Early access is by invitation, as a Founding Maker.

A LOFT WARDROBE IN PROGRESS

Model tree, 3D view, cut list and the assistant, side by side.

Choreographed replay of a design built with the assistant. Modelling, checks, cut list, renders and AI costs are real. The assistant's replies are scripted for the video.

A REAL PROJECT: THE LOFT WARDROBE

From sketch to 3D design.

A fitted wardrobe for a loft conversion, under a sloping ceiling. It started as a pencil sketch on a notepad.

  1. 1Sketch or describe it

Photograph a hand-drawn sketch, drop in a reference image, or just write what you want, with the measurements you took.

Pencil sketch on lined paper of the loft space, with its measurements written on
  2. 2Get a starting model

The assistant turns it into the space to build in, then a first design inside it: carcasses, shelves, base frame.

The loft space as a 3D outline in KerfCraft, with the sloping ceiling
  3. 3Adjust it your way

Change sizes, materials and details by hand or by asking, on the same model. Switch between the two whenever you like.

KerfCraft with a filler panel selected: rotate handles in the 3D view, its size typed in the properties panel, and the assistant conversation alongside.
    • Click a part and type its size
    • Drag the rings to rotate it
    • Or ask in plain words
The same model, edited by hand or by asking.
  4. 4Inspect and list the parts

Orbit, explode and check the model, then get a cut list and cutting plans to check against your own measurements.

MATERIALS AND PARTS

Not just shapes. Actual woodworking.

KerfCraft models parts the way you'd buy and cut them, from a catalogue of real sheet and timber stock.

  • MDF from 6 to 25 mm, and 18 mm moisture-resistant MDF
  • Birch, hardwood and softwood plywood in 2440 × 1220 sheets
  • CLS and regularised timber, C16 and C24 grades
  • Cabinets and carcasses, shelves, doors, fascias and fillers
  • Stud framing and noggins
  • Cut lists, sheet and timber cutting plans, and a bill of materials

CUTTING PLAN

SEE IT FIRST

Know how it could look before you pick up a saw.

Try the layout, the sizes and the finishes while changing them costs nothing. Look at it from any angle, take it apart, and walk round it.

EXPLODED VIEW

Pull the parts apart to see how it goes together.

Path-traced render of the loft bedroom with the green wardrobe
PATH-TRACED RENDER

Photoreal render of any view: bounced light, soft shadows, reflections.

Walking through the loft bedroom at eye level, towards the open wardrobe
WALKTHROUGH

Walk in at eye level with W/A/S/D.

RESTYLE WITH AI

An AI image of the room as it might be lived in. It's a picture only: nothing is added to your model.

HOW YOU WORK

Your design. Your tools. Your way.

You're a drafter too. Draw every line yourself, ask for a hand with the tedious parts, or let the assistant rough out the whole thing and refine it yourself. Same model, same tools either way, and you can switch at any moment.

By hand

Rectangle, line, circle, push/pull, move, rotate, timber and measure tools. Type exact dimensions as you draw, or edit numbers in the properties panel.

A hand with the dull bits

Draw what you care about and ask for the repetitive parts, like a carcass with shelves and doors. Then carry on by hand.

Autopilot

Describe the whole project or show it a sketch, and the assistant roughs it out for you to refine. It asks before anything destructive, and you can undo its last request.

PRICING

Make things. Not monthly payments.

If you design a few projects a year, a monthly subscription doesn't make sense.

  • No compulsory monthly subscription
  • Pay-as-you-go AI credit: pay for the assistant when you use it
  • You see what the AI costs as you go: the assistant panel keeps a running total
  • Your designs export in open formats, so they stay yours

ABOUT

Built by a maker, for makers.

I'm a software engineer, and I like building things with my hands. For a loft conversion, I needed a fitted wardrobe under a sloping ceiling.

The CAD tools I tried could do it, but only with a lot of manual modelling, panel by panel. So I built something that understands a woodworking request, works in real sheet sizes and timber sections, and lets me design it with it, a step at a time.

KerfCraft started as a personal project. It isn't venture-backed, and it isn't perfect. It's the tool I wanted for my own projects, and I hope it helps with yours.

QUESTIONS

Questions.

Is it free?

Pricing isn't final. The plan is pay-as-you-go credit for the AI assistant, with no compulsory subscription. Early access is by invitation, as a Founding Maker.

Do I need CAD experience?

No. Describe what you want or show it a sketch, and the assistant roughs it out for you to refine. If you know CAD, draw it yourself. You choose how much autopilot, and can change your mind at any point.

Where are my projects saved?

In your browser, on your device: work autosaves as you go. To keep a copy or move a project to another computer, download it as a .kerf file and open it with File ▸ Open file….

Can I export my work?

Yes: STEP for other CAD tools, glTF/GLB for 3D viewers and Blender, DXF for 2D CAD, CNC and laser, IFC4 for BIM tools, plus cut lists (CSV, JSON), workshop packs (PDF, XLSX) and drawing sheets (PDF, DXF).

Can I cut straight from the cut list?

No, check it first. The cut list and cutting plans are worked out from the model, so they're only as right as the model and the measurements behind it. Check them against the real space before you cut, as you would any drawing.

Is it structurally checked?

No. Its design checks look for parts that overlap and parts that stick out of the space you measured. They don't assess strength, loads, fixings or building regulations. That judgement stays with you.

What does the AI cost?

Pricing is coming soon. You'll pay for AI use as you go, and you can see the cost while you work: the assistant panel shows a running total for each project.

Your next project starts with an idea.
